As an internationally successful company with over 100 years of tradition, we are a role model. We not only have a responsibility to our employees and our customers, sustainable management and using resources carefully are also very important to us. Because we operate in a globalised world and also co-operate with suppliers in emerging and developing countries, we pay particular attention to the ecological and social conditions under which our products are produced. We have taken acting sustainably to heart. Our suppliers and business partners around the world reliably support our effort to safeguard our quality and product diversity.

We give our customers expert, courteous advice and also make sure that we only offer merchandise that has been produced under humane, ethically sound conditions, in compliance with the applicable protective labour law provisions and taking environmental protection into consideration. Child labour is a particularly important concern.

But sustainability is also becoming increasingly important in our logistics, packaging, presentation and lighting concepts. That is why we always take back our packaging material, for example.

In order to actively be involved in ensuring that working conditions are good, P&C has created its own monitoring programme in which specialists verify conditions and submit suggestions for improvement.

So that we better live up to our responsibility, we participate in a programme for the introduction and monitoring of social standards called the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). By making extremely high safety demands on our suppliers, we ensure that every article we buy poses no health risk whatsoever: our in-house brand articles undergo laboratory testing in advance and a random sample is tested against the rigorous criteria of Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

Taking on social responsibility is an integral part of our company's self-image. That is why P&C supports non-profit-making projects in social welfare and humanitarian areas. For example, we are committed to the “TRIBUTE TO BAMBI” foundation, which helps disadvantaged children in Germany. We also co-operate with the aid organisation Terre des Hommes.
