How long does the Fashion Management Programme run for and how is it organised?
The Fashion Management Programme is a three-phase, modular junior management training programme for selected candidates who love fashion and want to start in their first positions of responsibility very quickly. The theory and practical application parts of each phase are individually planned according to the participants’ qualifications and desired career path. The programme lasts for between six and eight months.
When does the Fashion Management Programme begin?
The Fashion Management Programme begins every quarter on a fixed date. The following dates apply for 2012: 1 February, 1 March, 1 July, 1 September and 1 October.
When is the deadline for applications?
You can apply any time as long as you indicate the date on which you would like to begin. Please submit your application at least two months before the date on which you would like to begin.
How many places are available each year?
Currently there are approx. 50 places per year internationally.
What qualifications and interests should I have?
As a graduate you should have an affinity for fashion and lifestyle as well as a pronounced sense of style and taste. A cosmopolitan attitude, evidence of extracurricular activities and excellent communication skills are also an advantage. The ideal candidate is committed, dynamic and ambitious. The ability to deal with stress and a high level of motivation are prerequisites for meeting our requirements. We also value a successfully completed, compact academic career with good results.
If you have completed interesting internships in the fashion and lifestyle sector or a consultancy, this would of course be an advantage. Preference will be given to graduates of economics or of fashion schools, however graduates from other disciplines have also started brilliant careers with us in the past.
What is involved in the selection procedure?
We use a five-phase selection procedure:
- - Preselection on the basis of the applications received
- - Assessment centre at our human resources head office in Vienna
- - A practical experience day at one of our department stores
- - Interview at our human resources head office in Vienna
- - Final interview with the management
Is placement abroad possible?
While you are still on the Fashion Management Programme, placement in one of our department stores abroad is only possible if you have an excellent command of the language of the country concerned. After you have successfully completed the programme, you can work at any of our locations. If you would like to work abroad as part of your career, we will be happy to support you with suitable language and intercultural training courses.
What are the prospects like after successful completion of the programme?
After you have completed the Fashion Management Programme, you will receive an open-ended contract and begin your first position of responsibility as a department manager in sales or as a merchandise controller in central buying. Once you have proven yourself in this position, there are excellent career opportunities as Peek & Cloppenburg fills approx. 90% of its management positions with its own employees.
What is the difference between the Fashion Management Programme and the General Management Programme?
The main difference lies in the direction in which you would like your career to go. The Fashion Management Programme is the optimal entry platform for careers in our core buying, international brands and sales divisions.
The General Management Programme prepares you for an entry-level position in one of the head office divisions (e.g. controlling, marketing or in-house consulting) in Düsseldorf/DE but also provides the opportunity of going into the buying or sales areas internationally. Due to low demand in the head office divisions, there are fewer places available for the General Management Programme and the selection criteria are specifically targeted to requirement profiles.
