Prospects

Upon successful completion of your studies, you will have the opportunity to advance your career and become a department manager and take on responsibility for staff and sales. Afterwards, you can work your way up to General Sales Manager (m/f/x).
If you show outstanding performance and meet certain criteria, such as a willingness to learn German and the flexibility to relocate, you could also be promoted to Merchandise Controller (m/f/x).

What does a Department Manager in Sales do?
As a department manager, you are responsible for the turnover of the sales area entrusted to you, and thus also for analysing the sales figures in order to determine how to improve your turnover. You will also take on personnel responsibility and lead, but above all motivate your sales team. In addition, you will also help to train P&C's own junior staff. Other duties include ensuring that our customers receive service-oriented advice, maintaining close contact with our purchasing department to coordinate the product range, as well as strategy and system-based control/analysis of the product range, and the management of your sales floor.

What does a Merchandise Controller do?
As a Merchandise Controller, you are a vital point of contact for your buyer (m/f/x). You will analyse the sales figures and, based on this, derive budgets for the brands and products that lie within your area of responsibility. In other words, you act as a banker for our buyer and give them the money they need to allocate the collections for our sales floors. Other duties include preparing reports, restocking our sales areas, preparing figures for collection meetings, order appointments and budget planning appointments, as well as having a good rapport with our colleagues in sales.

Tips for your Application

Do it right the first time. How it works:

Be well prepared

Familiarise yourself with the company and your future duties at P&C – our website will help you find the necessary information.

Send a personalised application

Write your application documents yourself. Avoid copying text modules or entire texts from the internet. Check your texts to ensure that there are no mistakes.

Being nervous is normal!

Trembling, cracking voice, sweaty palms – all this can happen. The other participants feel the same way. So don't panic if panic sets in.

Be yourself

Be authentic during the job interview, and don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Choose an outfit that makes you feel comfortable and not dressed up.

Hands-on day

During the hands-on day, you will spend a day in the store and can already try out some tasks, such as advising customers or presenting goods.

Be curious!

Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask colleagues for tips – this will not only help you to cope with the tasks but will also show that you are committed and curious.

Have fun!

Don't view the hands-on day as another test situation, but instead have fun with your new duties – because this is what you will be doing throughout your entire training.

Be honest with yourself!

After the hands-on day, critically reflect on your future profession. Ask yourself whether you enjoyed the tasks in the store and if you can imagine working in this industry.
