Dual Bachelor Studies

Is the dual Bachelor study programme also available in my country?
The Dual Bachelor Study Programme is only available in Austria so far, which means that you would absolve your studies in Austria – therefore German language skills are a must-have condition.

Which are the prerequisites for Dual Bachelor Students?
You should have passed your A-levels with an above-average result and share our passion for fashion. A certain sensitivity for style, commitment, communication skills and team-player skills are also in your favour. And as mentioned above it is absolutely necessary that you have high-German skills in speaking and writing as the theoretical part of the study programme takes place in Austria.

How many places are there per year?
We offer 25 places per year.

In which stores can I absolve the practical part of my studies?
You will be able to absolve this part in any of our stores.

After my A-Levels I am going to live abroad for a year. Can I already apply for the upcoming year?
The earliest possible application date is one year before start date of the programme. This means when you are interested in starting the programme in August 2016 you can earliest start with your application on August 1st of 2015. For the interview process it is important that you are present.

Is there an application deadline?
No, there is no deadline. From August onwards you are always able to apply for the programme starting the consequent year. The earlier you apply the more likely you are to influence your store location.

How is the split between theory and practical experience organised?
The theoretical part of the study programme takes place in an exclusive P&C class at the University of Applied Sciences of Krems, Lower Austria and in Vienna. Classes are organised in blocks – this means that during your university-phase of the programme you can entirely focus on your classes and are not working. P&C will pay for your stay in a hotel during the university block phase if you do not live in Krems or Vienna.

I am studying at a university right now – can I change to the Dual Bachelor study programme?
If a change is an option will have to be proved for every single case in particular.

Is it possible to go to classes at a university close to me for the theoretical block?
No. To guarantee the same level of knowledge for our all Dual Bachelor Students and to enable their interaction this is not admitted.

Which perspectives do I have after the programme?
During your studies you already lay the foundation for a variety of opportunities for after the programme. You will start as a department manager in one of our stores and if the performance and the commitment meet our demands then you proceed. If you become a store manager or a Managing Director in the area of sales or if you become Retail Buyer/Buyer or Merchandise Controller in the area of buying – you decide where the long-term journey will lead you.

Traineeprogramme

What are the prerequisites for the two specialisations?
For the trainee programme with the focus on buying you should – in addition to fulfilling the in the “short info” mentioned conditions - also have a sense for style and trends and negotiation skills. You should be open-minded and a number cruncher. As a trainee in the area of sales you should be assertive, an entrepreneur and a leader. You should also love to work in teams. For both areas of specialisation it is important that you are stress-resistant.

Which fields of study are you targeting with this programme?
We preferably give our traineeships to students of economic fields of study or similar. But also trainees from very different fields of study have started their career with us.

Do I have to apply for a specialisation?
Yes, because we want to get a feeling for what you are most interested in and what your strengths are. It is important that you put your desired field of specialisation in the subject line of your cover letter.

Can I change the specialisation during the course of the trainee programme?
No, a change of specialisation is generally not planned for. In exceptional cases it might however happen that we discover that your strengths lie in another field of specialisation. Then an individual solution can be discussed with the HR department.

Is a placement abroad possible?
Yes, in exceptional cases. A placement abroad in one of our stores is only possible if you speak the local language. After having finished your programme you can however start in any of our stores. Should you plan to do a placement abroad during your programme we are happy to support you with language classes and intercultural trainings.

Is there a mentoring programme for the trainees?
Yes there is. An experienced colleague, who is already having a successful career at P&C, will be your personal mentor who is there to support and guide you.

Can I influence my location of work?
Generally speaking you should be flexible as a trainee – also depending your location of work. We cannot always guarantee you the right to decide the location. But we will try to consider your preferences whenever possible.

Why should I choose the trainee programme over a direct-entry opportunity?
The direct-entries are for experienced professionals. Over the course of the trainee programme graduates are taught the necessary skills and knowledge needed for a specialised career or a leadership position. The trainee programme helps you to gain the practical experience you need for such positions.
